Ready to Respond: A Modern, 24/7 Fire Station Designed for Highland Township’s Heroes

PARTNERS in Architecture partnered with Highland Township to provide construction services for two new fire stations, addressing the evolving needs of the township’s emergency services. The project began with comprehensive assessments and feasibility studies of all three existing township fire stations, culminating in a Design-Build delivery process with a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP). PARTNERS served as the Design-Build firm of record, ensuring seamless coordination between design and construction while maintaining budget and schedule adherence.

The designs for both fire stations reflect the aesthetics and character of the community, harmonizing with the surrounding environment. Constructed with metal framing and masonry, the stations incorporate geothermal heating and cooling systems, ensuring energy efficiency and sustainability. Both facilities include three pull-through apparatus bays, designed for optimal vehicle navigation and rapid emergency response.

Station #1 serves as a 24/7/365 facility, housing full-time staff and providing essential resources for emergency operations. The station includes six dorms, a training facility, and administrative offices, ensuring it meets the township’s current and future operational needs. This station’s training spaces support ongoing professional development for fire personnel, further enhancing the department’s capabilities.

Station #2 is designed for part-time staff, with four part-time dorms for future flexibility. Like Station #1, it features three pull-through apparatus bays, supporting efficient operations. Together, these state-of-the-art facilities provide Highland Township with the infrastructure needed to deliver reliable and responsive emergency services, reflecting PARTNERS’ commitment to creating functional, community-centered designs."
