Our Founding Story

David Gassen and Michael Malone, founded Partners in Architecture in 2005 with a shared vision of excellence in public architecture.

Prior to establishing the firm, they worked together at two previous firms, where they specialized in public sector projects. The two architects recognized the value and impact of public architecture, and made the decision to establish Partners in Architecture to serve local clients in Michigan. Their professional partnership has built a reputation for technical precision, design excellence, and an sincere  commitment to public architecture.

For more than two decades, the firm has maintained its focus on educational and municipal facilities, with approximately 95% of commissions in the public sector. This specialization has allowed Partners in Architecture to develop deep expertise in creating spaces that serve communities effectively while demonstrating responsible stewardship of public resources.
