Dorothy M. Busch Branch Library

The new Dorothy M. Busch Branch Library demonstrates how thoughtful design can transform a community resource to meet evolving needs. Following a successful library millage, PARTNERS led the replacement of the original 1963 facility, which had outgrown its capacity and faced failing building systems. The project began with the strategic demolition of the existing 4,700-square-foot library and adjacent house, creating space for an expanded facility and enhanced site amenities.

The new library's design emphasizes flexibility and technological integration, supporting diverse programming and community activities. PARTNERS created distinct zones for children, teens, and adults, each thoughtfully designed to serve their unique needs while maintaining a cohesive, welcoming atmosphere. The children's area encourages early literacy and exploration, while the teen space provides a dedicated environment for study and collaboration. Adult areas offer a mix of quiet reading spaces and flexible meeting areas.

Technology features prominently throughout the facility, with abundant computer access, presentation equipment, and comprehensive Wi-Fi coverage supporting modern library services. Site improvements significantly enhanced the library's accessibility and appeal, featuring improved circulation patterns, expanded parking, and inviting exterior reading areas surrounded by fresh landscaping.

The project reflects the community's commitment to maintaining vital public resources while demonstrating how modern library design can create inspiring spaces that adapt to changing user needs and technological requirements. The warm, welcoming environment ensures the library will serve as a vibrant community hub for generations to come.
